CONTROVERSIAL #2

A book you’ve read that changed your views on something:
To be honest I don’t read that much, but the last book which really made me think was called “I Kissed Dating Goodbye” by Joshua Harris. Amy lent me it after a few interesting conversations about Christian dating last summer. Although I felt some of the things in the book was a bit... extreme, Harris presented some excellent points which challenged me. I felt that this book changed my outlook on dating and the way I looked at guys - and trust me, that’s a thing I’ve struggled with for a long time. It also reassured me that it was okay to be single (a typical concern of many young female adults!) Ladies, maybe if you’re having similar concerns as me, have a look at this.

Your views on gay marriage:
I’ve been staring at this question since I started this meme and was wondering was it a mistake that I didn’t delete it when I had the chance to. Honestly I still don’t know how to answer this. The whole topic of homosexuality and homophobia is a heated debate right now in the world and I can honestly say I don’t really have an opinion, not a valid one anyway. I’m a Christian, which evidently throws me to one side of the debate, but i’ll just try and clear up what I want to say and be done with the subject forever.

Christians: I understand why many Christians are upset and disagree with homosexuality, never-mind gay marriage. Personally, I find it extremely disturbing how quickly the world is adjusting and accepting to this. It’s one of many signs of the end of the world. People don’t fear God anymore, which is frightening and tragic too. I also think it’s okay that some Christians feel strongly want to speak out and express their beliefs. It’s what they believe - free speech, eh? However I also feel some so called ‘Christians’ are expressing views, which are NOT Christ-like - setting a bad reputation for other Christians and making us all look crazy. We aren't all irritating bigots, I hope.

Gay Support: What pisses me off is how Christians (regular ones... not extreme, mad ones) are more commonly being mocked and ridiculed for standing up for what they believe in. (Another sign of the end times, by the way.) You support gay rights? Fine! There’s no need to criticise those who don’t. You don’t? Fair enough. Less of the population have a religious or spiritual basis so they are not bound by religious rules. Therefore it’s their personal choice to support gay rights or not. So I understand why many people are enthusiastic to support it - they see no wrong in it. One thing I do not like is how during debates on this topic, usually online, secularists twist random Bible verses such as this. Completely taking it out of context, probably with little understanding or research on the verses at all - making a JOKE out of the word of God! This offends me and tires my weary brain. How difficult it is to LOVE people like this! Actually makes me want to cry: in sadness and frustration. This is why I hate this debate so much.

Homosexuality: I think being gay is a sin. That is why so many people, religious folk in particular, are against it. I disagree with it because God hates sin. But! Gay people/supporters, don’t feel that homosexuality is the worst sin. (which it is made out to be most of the time) All sin is equal in God’s eyes. If I dated a non-Christian - that would be just as equal of a sin as if I dated a woman. If a man committed a murder, it would be no worse if a man kissed another man. Then again, why would these secular people care what God thinks anyway? I'm fully aware of the reasons and don't want to be ignorant of what I'm trying to talk about. And another thing, God DOES NOT hate gay people - I can't stand it when people mouth off that he does - he loves us all, no matter what. I don't hate gay people either. I know a few gays from school/uni and they some of the most lovely, friendly and hilarious people I've ever met! There's one in particular I would be lost without - I don't love him any less for what he is, I actually have more respect for him for keeping me in his life.

Gay Marriage: I disagree with homosexuality so therefore I disagree with gay marriage too. God makes it clear it’s man and woman were meant to be together. Typical response expected -  I don’t intend to start an argument, because as much as the whole thing distresses me, I don’t see the point in fighting with everyone about it. Again - if there's no belief in God in their lives, I don't understand why people wouldn't be campaigning for the legalisation of gay marriage. Same with mixed-race marriage, I guess - it's now widely accepted after many years of individuals being discriminated against.
The definition of love has been warped and altered so much, I can imagine there are many, many people in the world who don’t understand what Love truly is. For me, this song by Jaeson Ma hits the nail on the head - even Bruno Mars sings in it too!

Conclusion of mini-rant: I believe the acceptance of homosexuality and gay marriage is just another win for secularism and Satan - this makes me sad. I do not share the same views as many others but that doesn't mean I despise them for it. I don’t think being gay is worse than anything else, but it scares me what the future generations will soon find acceptance in, and what God thinks of it all.

What if you were pregnant or got someone pregnant, what would you do?
I know I shouldn’t be laughing at this but LOL. I seriously hope I won’t up pregnant, until the time is right anyway. I really wouldn’t like to think of the consequences if I ended up pregnant today...I’d be pretty embarrassed to be honest.

Have you ever thought about giving up on life? If so, when and why?
To be quite honest, yes I have. Y’know in your teenage years where it’s cool to be all emo and melancholy. Like it was more like, "eugh I wanna kill myself life sucks what's the point in all this crap" Not that I would have done anything, definitely not! Personally I think it’s a very selfish choice for anyone to commit suicide - don’t they think of those who have been left behind? Coping with death is a horrible, horrible experience - thankfully the three funerals I have been to were not intentional deaths - a car accident, cancer sufferer and old age. I couldn’t possibly get my head around someone PURPOSIVELY ending their life. But I guess there are some reasons that are harder to understand? Anybody reading this - I pray you’ll not attempt such a thing - yes life can be difficult, we make mistakes and sometimes it just feels like things keep getting worse - but there’s always a light at the end of the tunnel.

What is the hardest thing you have ever experienced?
Jordan’s death - nothing is quite like the pain of accepting that someone who is the same age as you is now buried in the ground, someone who you’ll never see again on this earth, someone who you’ve spent 7 years together in school with you won’t speak to again, someone who was one of your best friends. Everything became different after the accident - our whole friendship group changed dramatically. I found that very difficult to come to terms with too.

What popular notion do you think the world has most wrong?
Many, many fashion trends - the one I will point out today is leggings being worn as trousers - weird, saggy bum! And often a pants line too, not good ladies, doesn't matter how comfortable it is - sort your wardrobe out.

CONTROVERSIAL #1

Gonna answer all the dangerous/controversial/awkward questions in a single post.

If you bumped into the person you dislike or if you were stuck with them in an elevator, what would you do or say?
Well I’d probably try to be civil and either say hello, exchange a nod or just say nothing at all if they don’t make eye contact.

Someone who made your life hell, or treated you like shit.
There are certain people who spring to mind here. I find it difficult to forgive people who bullied and made fun of me when I was younger, around 10-14 years old. And no, I can’t say I have forgiven for them yet - I know it sounds ridiculous but words hurt. I still hear those harsh words ring in my ears when I’m feeling crappy. I remember not being able to sleep at night, sick with worry thinking of the next day of school. And if I see them, I feel such a burning anger for making my life so horrible, I can hardly look them in the eye! I hope I will be able to forgive them in the near future.

Someone you didn’t want to let go, but just drifted.

I notice as you get older this happens more regularly. It becomes ten times harder to keep in touch with people, and there’s also some you just have to let go because there is no room for them in your life. This is quite sad really. The ones who have drifted I can’t say I miss much - then there are others who I don’t see but if we would meet up, it would be just like the way it used to be - then there’s some I meet and feel so awkward I can hardly make conversation with. I was afraid I would lose contact with James since we left for university, but thankfully we haven’t drifted apart, which I'm very thankful for!

Someone you need to let go, or wish you didn’t know.
There are a few people who I’ve met in my lifetime who I really didn’t like or wish I never knew. But I think there’s a reason for everything - even if I didn’t impact their life, it maybe was showing me who were good friends for me to have and who were not.

What do you think of religion? Or what do you think of politics?
What’s this now? Religion and politics are in the same question?!
Religion - As most of you know, I am a ‘religious’ person. I have been blessed in a loving Christian family who involved me in church and which also influenced my morals and lifestyle choices. I gave my life to Christ when I was a child, probably round 7 or 8 years old. I never fell away from this faith - and still live by these moral principles today. I don’t drink, smoke, sleep around...etc. It amazes me how stuck by these values for so long - it’s by faith obviously. God has provided me with such a strong faith and I’m not easily swayed, plus this kind of lifestyle never appealed to me anyway. I wouldn’t label my faith a religion, although it probably looks like it is, it’s more a personal relationship. The closer you are to God, other things such as relationships with others, struggles and worries are easier to deal with. I think I would be a paranoid, stressed and horrible human being if I didn‘t have God in my life to conquer my obstacles. I think it takes an open mind to have a faith in something, any religion actually. I can understand that it doesn’t appeal to everyone. It’s not an easy choice though either. I see why people want to live their own life, which saddens me, because I see how powerful and wonderful God works in my life. But flip, I could talk about how God has transformed my life for hours, but it’s something you gotta feel for yourself.
Politics - I am afraid I have a lack of knowledge and understanding in all things political. I wish I even understood what it’s all about - so I would have an opinion. But since I don’t, I shall say nothing at all.

Your views on drugs and alcohol.
Personally I don’t understand why people drink or smoke, never-mind do drugs. Purposively damaging your body never quite appealed to me! Well I actually think it’s very sad when I see friends, flatmates and fellow students away out to nightclubs or parties. I don’t understand this lifestyle at all. Again, I feel I shouldn’t criticise because I’ve never even been to a nightclub, bar or party. Or drunk an alcoholic beverage for that matter. I choose not to drink because I think if I started, I would not stop. There’s a few reasons actually but I’d rather not bore you all to tears. And for drugs, well drugs are stupid, just no thank you.

What has been the most difficult thing you have had to forgive?
A few people do spring to mind unfortunately. In my childhood I was a child who was rarely shouted at (not by my parents though) so when someone actually told me off about something insignificant or said something mean, I tended to held a grudge against them forever. I think I reacted like this because I’m kinda sensitive, believe it or not. Although I try to hide that side of me. I’d rather not list these individuals here because it seems petty. I need to forgive these people for what they said, but more importantly be forgiven for holding these pointless grudges against them.

Your best friend is in a car accident and you two got into a fight an hour before. What do you do?
Eugh! What a horrible question! It’s worse when you’ve already been through a similar scenario before. Thankfully Jordan and I were not fighting before she had her car accident. (I thank God that we weren’t, because we definitely had our tense moments in school.) To be honest I don’t even want to answer this one, I pray none of us will have to go through a similar situation again.

Have you ever did something bad or lied to your parents but got away with it?
No I can’t say I have, haha! My mum can read me like a book. And by a book, I probably would be a children’s book. Very, very easy to read.

The reason you believe you’re still alive today.

I believe I am still alive today because God feels my work on earth is not yet complete. And what this reason is...only he knows. I would LOVE to know what he wants me to do, but for now I will live by his word everyday and believe everything will fall into place when the time is right. God’s plan is good!

K-POP MUSIC VIDEOOOOOOOOOOOS

smile
Okay, so I’m getting a bit tired of the other blogging meme. I’ve had lots of work to do lately which involves spending endless hours on the computer, so blogging hasn’t really been my favourite thing to do. Big deadline is just before Christmas and I can’t wait to get everything handed in. I started this blog post a few weeks ago and decided to finish it on my night off.
---
So I started listing my favourite K-Pop music videos - I can’t actually remember what made me want to do this but it seemed like fun.
Then I realised that 25 music videos were a bit much, so here I’m trying to list my ULTIMATE favourite music videos. Like, the absolute BEST. Yes, that’s a very difficult thing to do! And I’m inviting/forcing you to watch them. *o* ENJOY.

In no particular order...

Sorry Sorry - Super Junior
This song and music video was the culprit which introduced me into the world of K-Pop. I’m not sure if the overall music video is anything fantastic or is it just a mixture of affection and nostalgia for me. However it’s unarguably Super Junior’s best comeback and it’s one of the last videos where all 13 were together. (Yeah, 13 members.) Also it’s very, very catchy.
Haru Haru - Big Bang
First of all, it’s Big Bang. If that doesn’t instantly eradicate your conscious into mindless fangirl/boy squealing like it does for me, watch this one and follow a beautiful but soul-destroying story about two guys’ relationship with a girl. I’m not going to give anything away but get tissues.
Go Away - 2NE1
Okayy this video stars my all-time favourite female k-pop star CL, leader of girl-group 2NE1. (To Anyone or Twenty One). 2NE1 are like a sister group to BIGBANG because they are part of the same company, YG Entertainment. 2NE1 are my in my favourites because they are bold, quirky and haven’t the typical pretty appearance like most female artists, see Girls Generation or Wonder Girls etc. They stand out and aren’t afraid to be different, and also their tunes are CLASS! I could talk about them all day, but I need to remain focused and examine the video. I chose this one because it shows how badass they are, especially CL’s fierceness and individuality which I was trying to explain before. Also, their style is amazing.
This video was released in 2010 as part of their To Anyone album - so if you’re looking something new to listen to, I highly recommend it because I love every song.
Soooo, basically CL breaks up with her boyfriend (lol he looks female) and she is devastated. She seeks revenge and attempts to beat him in a race and fails, then she visits him at her house and he beats the living crap outta her (seriously), then she races him again... and then you can see what happens after that. I don’t want to give anything away. Incredible video but still...frustrating.
Roly Poly - T-ARA
Okay this one is so much fun. “Roly Poly” is an utterly addictive retro track with a fantastic music video to match. This M.V effectively imitates the seventies’ trend and T-ARA looks fabulous moving to the groovy choreography. You’ll have it on repeat.

Ring Ding Dong - SHINee
I initially heard this song about two years ago now and I still spontaneously sing a bit of it every day. This will be, without a doubt, the most catchy song you will ever, EVER hear. Like it or not, with one listens only once, it will be trapped in your head forever. To ensure this is permanent - the music video must also be viewed, meaning you can dance along. SHINee are, dare I say it, the One Direction of Korea - they have a band member to suit every girl’s taste. Except SHINee can dance with coordination and resilience! And in water too! Yes, SHINee are probably the best boyband out there at the minute. I lovvee this video. Fantastically elastic.

Mirotic - DBSK
If you like nakey men dancing sexy watch this. This was DBSK’s last comeback before they dissolved and WHAT A SHAME that was!! This video is captivatingly beautiful - it’s passionate and to put it bluntly, arousing. Yes, it’s rather sexualized with all their sexy moves and provocative outfits....but none of us really mind...good job SM Entertainment, good job.

Gee - Girls Generation
Just to point out the obvious comparisons between 2NE1 and every other girl group, here are Girls Generation - in other words, the goddesses of Korea. I find Girls Gen, or SNSD for their Korean name (So Nyuh Shi Dae) too skinny and fake, but most other boys in the world think otherwise. Despite this, I still like them and like their music too. This was the first music video of their’s that I watched but still think it’s one of their best. It’s cute and endearing and so typically asian. And, believe it or not, it’s catchy - I wish there was another word for catchy but I can’t think of one. But that’s exactly what it is. Ladies, prepare to hate your figures.

Butterfly - G-Dragon
In case you didn’t know, I’m very much YG biased, so I totally adore and support BigBang and 2NE1. As much as I love SHINee, I struggle to like SM Entertainment because they treat their artists like slaves, and I feel they have no freedom making their own music, unlike YG. Can’t remember why I started writing that sentence but G-Dragon, incase you didn’t know, is the leader of BIGBANG. In 2009, the members took a break and released individual singles. GD released the wonderful Heartbreaker album, another one of my favourite CDs which I could listen to the whole way through. He released this pretty song in late October. If you are into Anime and all that, I highly recommend this, because this MV is breathtakingly beautiful. GD is propelled into an animated world and meets a girl who falls for him. (Probably because of his gorgeous smile, how is he so pretty...) The odd thing here is how he’s the only one not animated, but his whole appearance makes it look like he is? It boggles my mind. Anyway it’s super cute and if you’re into the whole Anime art it would be worthwhile to have a lookie, I know Mary-Jane adores this.
Lucifer - SHINee
More SHINee - don’t be surprised. These guys released a Korean version of Lucifer in 2010, then a Japanese one a couple of months ago in 2011. My advice here is to watch the Korean first and take that in - it’s not as catchy as Ring Ding Dong - but after many listens I love it too. The highlight of this one is definitely Taemin’s hair - surprisingly gorgeous, and I want it! The outfits and hairstyles are a bit off (cough, Minho) but the choreography is fierce.
Having said that, in my opinion, the Japanese one is a TRILLION times better! Yes! You may wonder how SHINee could get ANY better but like, wow, the stylists actually got the hair and style 100%. It’s been like 9 weeks ago since they released it and I’m still geeking out. They look FLAWLESS. The cinematography is stunning - the varying pace in the speed of the image is absolutely perfect - I say this because it would be so complicated to get accurate in a fast-paced song. These impeded shots can reveal breath-taking close-ups of the boys’ singing and their movements - AND equal screen-time too, oh it’s faultless!

So I hope you are now thinking “Wow Claudia, that was fantastic! Thank you for recommending such wonderful and beautiful music videos to me!”
And if you don’t feel that, watch them all again.

CHRISTMAS CARD

Hello again! Did you all have a nice Christmas?
So yes, my intentions were to post photographs of my pressies, but I haven’t done that yet (and more than likely won’t, with exam revision looming.)

But anyway here is a fabulous card that Jared made me - it made me laugh a lot:
A great illustration of everything that I love!
He even wrote his own poem on the inside, which I adore. Enjoy.
To Claudia

We all know that you like kpop
And that you are in love with top
But big Bang are nothing compared to SNSD
Especially when they start to sing gee
So what your sexy brother is trying to say
Is that Shinee is completely gay
Sooyoung and I will not cause a fuss
So that you will have a merry Christmas

From your super mega sexy brother and his wife

Yes, he's convinced he's married to Sooyoung from Girls Generation. Bless.

Thank you Jared!!
