CONCERTS IN MAY

OKAY IT’S BEEN TOO LONG, and I have no excuses.

The last few months have been hectic so here is a short summary since my last update. It started when I procrastinated writing a blog-post about P!ATD gig I attended in May, then it escalated. I'll probably break these posts up into different parts, so I give you all permission to shout at me if I don't write up June's post.

Panic! At The Disco
If you are ever offered the opportunity to see Panic! - take it. Brendon Urie live is so, so much better than what I was expecting. His vocal range is simply incredible, and he puts on one heck of a show: highlights included backflipping on stage, playing the drums and ripping off his shirt (cue many screaming girls). Surprisingly, Emma and I were some of the oldest in the audience. I just assumed our other 21 year old nostalgic ex-emo fangirls from 2007 would also be present at that show. However, recent releases (Miss Jackson (2011) onwards) have undeniably pushed Panic! back into the appreciation of teenagers today, which may suggest why the fans there were still 13-17 year olds in the Mandela hall. I felt old.
Regardless, he was fantastic, and I now love the album Too Weird To Live, To Rare To Die! after he opened with Vegas Lights. Give it a listen. He also performed the old favourites too - The Only Difference..., Lying is the Most Fun... and, of course, I Write Sins Not Tragedies. What a show. Oh! And the support act was King Charles - LISTEN TO HIM TOO, I’m now obsessed with Loveblood.

Rend Collective Experiment
We accidentally booked two concerts in the same week, so on the Thursday of that week, Emma and I were back at the Mandela Hall to see a completely different (probably the complete opposite of Panic) concert. Rend Collective is a Christian band from Northern Ireland but have found global fame within the worship music scene, with catchy folk rock tunes appealing to an even wider demographic. After Panic, honestly I felt a bit Meh about this gig, but man I was so wrong. Their support act was Tenth Avenue North and when I learnt of this, I was thrilled! They’re probably the only Christian band that I really, really like to listen to on Spotify, so I was super happy. They were fantastic!! The crowd went wild when Rend arrived, and their set-list was just wonderful. They interacted with the crowd and it was clear to see they felt very comfortable performing back in own city - ‘good craic’ as they called it. It’s smashing to see a band from Northern Ireland do well internationally, and create awesome God-centered music. It was so spiritually encouraging, just what I needed!

CELEBRITY ETC.

What exactly would you do if you saw your favorite celebrity?
First of all, who IS my favourite celebrity? I have so many - I think I would freak out if I saw any of them. I remember when I met The Wanted and 2 thirds of Biffy Clyro I got really shy and could hardly speak but afterwards went all giddy, so I guess something like that would happen on a much larger scale, ha.

If you switch places with someone for one day, who would it be?
Haha, maybe my answer here is kinda boring, but I’d probably just swap with a guy, just to see what it’s like to live as a guy as a day. Just one day though.

What you saw at the news and talk about it.
This is terrible because I’m a Media student but I haven’t watched the news in ages. I would when I’m at home because that’s basically all my Mum would watch so it’s kinda on in the background. Last time I watched the news I remember hearing that Liam Neeson was coming to Ballymena in the new year. Hannah (Currently his biggest fan) was ecstatic and insisted we all go for a road trip to see him.

Celebrities you would like to see working together in a movie or T.V show?
I’d love a collaboration of all my favourite actors and actresses - Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Andrew Garfield, Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy, Johnny Depp, Sandra Bullock, Robert Downey Jr, David Tennant, Meryl Streep, Benedict Cumberbatch, Ellen Page, Colin Firth, Angelina Jolie, and Anne Hathaway. That would probably be the biggest budget film of all time but sounds amazing!! Oh and it would need to be directed by Christopher Nolan. Yes I am done here.

A hero who has let you down.
I definitely wouldn’t call BIGBANG my heroes because that’s really lame, but feel disapointed with how they are now compared to their older work. Yes I still would call them my favourite group, but I think YG is changing them to be more marketable. Maybe it’s what they have to do to get world-wide fame, but I miss the way they used to be. :(
Also, TOP is FAR TOO SKINNY! I miss old TOP.

A band or artist that has gotten you through some tough ass days.
I don’t think I can pin-point one particular artist that has helped me through something tough. I certainly am aware that I would turn to music if I’m feeling annoyed, upset and even for positive emotions too - but I think there are specific songs which I’d use for that than actual artists.
Like I’d be more likely to want to listen to oppressive music genres if I was feeling angry or depressed, like The Used or My Chemical Romance. But if I was feeling more content it’s likely I’d be listening to K-Pop or film soundtracks. I don’t know - it varies I guess. You probably could guess my mood by the songs I’m currently listening to.

If you could have dinner with anyone in history, who would it be and what would you eat?
Myself in 30 years, so I can ask what mistakes I made so I can avoid them, the people I should hold onto, the ones I should let go, the bad habits I shouldn't start, the good ones I should and where I was most happy and productive.

MUSIC

Make a playlist to someone, and explain why you chose all the songs.

Okay so this playlist is for everyone who reads it - and the list explains how some songs put me in certain moods...yeah.
May I point out before you begin reading this was the most difficult list I’ve ever created! And even now that it’s finished I still feel so many more songs could and should be included. Sigh!

Mood: Happy
Shampoo - After School
Still not sure why I like this song so much - perhaps it’s meant to be a sad song, who knows! After 90 listens I’m still liking it and it just makes me happy. The piano introduction is just gorgeous.

Mood: Content
Everything is Alright - Motion City Soundtrack
This song is an old favourite of mine, it’s just so lovely. Tell me that you’re alright, yeah everything is alright. It just reassures me that, yes, everything is okay.

Mood: Peaceful
Starlight - Muse
Ah Muse! The whole ‘Black Holes and Revelations’ album is a work of art, but Starlight has always been my favourite. It’s just so beautiful, Matt Bellamy’s voice is stunning. I even recall wanting this song played at either my wedding or funeral, now I think of it...I’m glad I never told anyone that.

Mood: Carefree
Hey-Ya - Outcast
Super tune here - When this song comes on there’s nothing you can do except dance. And y’all know I don’t dance, but woah this is such a song.

Mood: Enthusiastic
모르니 - 2PM
Nothing gets my groove on more than listening to some sexy 2pm before doing some work. There’s something about this track that just does it for me, and helps me start working! Bam!

Mood: Nostalgic
S-Club Party - S Club 7
Out of all the 90s songs, this one by S-Club 7 is still my favourite. I was a massive S-Clubber back in the day and it’s this song that’s my beat. There ain’t no party like an S-Club party!

Mood: Cheerful
Goofy Movie - Stand Out
It was only this year did I FINALLY find another Goofy Movie fan - Bronagh from my class at university also loves this tune and surprisingly is one of my favourite films. This song brings back many memories as a 10 year old girl who’s idol was Max Goof.

Mood: Good
Dancing In The Moonlight - Toploader
This song makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside - another one I remember prominently being played when I was growing up in advertisements and T.V shows.

Mood: Calm
The Saltwater Room - Owl City
Personally this is my favourite Owl City song. Like most of his songs, the lyrics are beautiful and I just feel so calm. “So tell me darling, do you wish we’d fall in love?”

Mood: Insecure
Ugly - 2NE1
Boo, even I, have off-days. I feel like crap and I just hate the world. Ugly by my girls 2NE1 make me feel a bit better because this song makes me not as feel as bad. “I think I’m ugly and nobody wants to love me” makes me feel more secure, because, c’mon, that’s a bit harsh ladies. I LOVE 2NE1 and think they are pretty. They make me feel better.

Mood: Sad
In Heaven - JYJ
I listened to this song on repeat after Jordan’s death back in September. Such a powerful song from the beautiful voices of Jaejoong, Yoochun and Junsu. It actually has made me burst into tears before because it’s so powerful. It’s weird what music can do. (Even if you don’t know what they are saying)

Mood: Romantic
Here (In Your Arms) - Hellogoodbye
This song reminds me back in the day when life was so much simple. It helped me believe in love - like silly love, teenager love. Love that isn’t genuine, but love gives you that funny feeling inside. Like when you have a crush on someone and it gives you flutters when you see them. I feel like a young teenager listening to this!

Mood: Upset
Haru Haru - BIGBANG
Oh boy oh boy this song actually breaks my heart. Definitely one of BIGBANG’s greatest. I cried after watching the music video - like, properly bawled. It makes me so sad because of the meaning behind it - it’s about saying goodbyes, even if you don’t want to. It’s just flawless.

Mood: Aggravated/Irratated
Taste of Ink - The Used
Nothing stirs me up more like listening to a little bit of The Used - another favourite group I had back in my younger days. This song is a classic.

Mood: Weak
Roses - The Rocket Summer
Naomi kindly introduced me to the Rocket Summer a couple of years ago, and it was only quite recently did I learn they were a Christian rock group. Roses is a powerful song which is such an encouragement when I feel like giving up. It provides me the kick I need to just keep holding on, even though it can be difficult. “Keep holding on, all I got is holding onto these roses, the thorns will keep on digging, but my soul believes.” Amazing!

Mood: Sleepy
Baby Goodnight - GD & TOP
I sometimes listen to this when I’m getting ready to go to bed. It’s very relaxing when I'm ready to sleep.

Mood: Depressed
Take Me Away - U-KISS
Sometimes it all just feels to be too much to deal with and I just want to run away. U-KISS’ voices are so divine in this track it gives me goosebumps.

Mood: Tired
Did You or Did You Not? - Block B
Sometimes I’m just sick of listening to people complain about their crap and I just want to be left alone. “This is why I’m serious, baby I’m so tired.”

Mood: Angry
Wolf In Sheep Clothing - This Providence
Man I love this track so much, an old favourite.

Mood: Melancholy
It’s Not Over - Secondhand Serenade
Although this song doesn’t have any direct impact on my own relationships with person/people, I think it’s a breathtaking song and makes me feel all emotional. He has a beautiful voice and the lyrics are amazing.

EASTER POST

Some words which have come into my head which I want to write about, eh?
Easter
I’ve been off for Easter this past week and next week too. So far I’ve had a lovely time off - meeting up with people I haven’t seen and also creating my Motion Graphics Visual Diary. We’ve also got some Easter Eggs which I plan to tuck into tomorrow. Yummy!

Car
I like driving now - how hypocritical of me, but I when people say getting your test is so much more better than learning, it’s definitely true. I never thought I’d like it though. Although I enjoyed the craic with my instructor, learning did get very tedious after a while. I’m glad that part of my life is over. I’ve my whole life ahead of me and I am free. Driving alone is so much more fun!

Social Networking
Okay, okay this is the very very last time I will rant about this. In the past few months, Twitter - you all should be familiar with it - has been increasing in popularity. I used the Twitter sphere to ESCAPE from silly Facebook friends’ updates - and now they all are making a Twitter account and FOLLOWING ME.
GO AWAY. GO AWAY, I SAY. I miss my freedom of expression, where I could tweet whatever I wished - now I feel I must censor it according incase it offends any of my followers. Hogwash!! I will only follow my friends and a few special others - this includes people from my course, celebrities and interesting/amusing people. Oh! And finally, don’t say Twitter is better than Facebook - it certainly is not. They both have their own features unique to the site - so just, eh, just shut up....and now I will too.

Friends
I’ve met many fantastic people through university, but nobody understands me like my friends back home do. We’ve been through so much together this past couple of months and we still stick together. I actually love you guys. Let us have many more laughs and memories together.

Diet
My weight is the bane of my life. For a while it was great, I actually had kinda lost my appetite - still not sure why, but alas, it has returned to it’s all-powerful self. I miss last year...I want my confidence back.

University
Would I go back to school? Not in a million years. I adore university - the freedom, the opportunity to meet new people and to study what I love.
My Classmates: Hannah, Seb, Rebecca and Emma in particular,
The other IMA guys who have made us all very welcome to our course: Eoin, Wilson, Michael, Nick, Louise, Lance, Sam and many others too!
My Flatmates in Cranagh: Kerri, Deirdre, Joanne and Anne.
CU friends: Shannon, Alison, Rachel, Danielle, Hannah S, Jenna, Alannah and some others too...
You guys are all awesome!

Music
I’ve been trying to re-evaluate my life this past fortnight and I’ve been cleansing myself from some certain music. Sometimes you can get carried away and you don’t even realise. I need to get my priorities right and my music is a good place to begin. I told a few people I’m trying to sort myself out, and honestly I don’t think they took it seriously - but I feel in my heart it’s time to move on. Although it won’t be easy, sacrifices need to be made to make room for greater things.

Faith
Last Monday we were challenged by our Small Groups leader to wake early and have our Quiet Time in the morning before we get up. Normally I would do a quick Bible chapter and prayer and conk out at night. Some nights when I was too tired I wouldn’t even bother. I knew it wasn’t very effective but it was just a bad habit I was stuck in. So I took on this challenge, and seriously, it’s been the best choice I’ve made in a long time.
I’m most focused in the mornings - so it’s a perfect routine for me and I’m able to spend more time praying and understand what I’m reading easier because my concentration level is higher. It’s also affected my whole day - I swear I’ve had the most fulfilling days since starting it. I’m happier and I feel closer to God, which is incredible. I love it!

Time for bed,
- Claudia

THINGS THAT CROSS MY MIND A LOT

“Heh heh, he’s hot”

I must admit, I think about guys a lot. Being female and an adolescent, it’s perfectly normal for me to swoon over men. (I keep telling myself that anyway.) Like, there’s girls from the age of 12 with steady boyfriends right through high school, and seriously that’s not for me at all. I’m far too busy to have time to spend with a boyfriend to be honest. I’m sure the right guy will come along someday, but for now, I will window shop.

“I look a mess”

Okay, I don’t think this all the time, but sometimes you just look at yourself in the mirror and go eugh. It’s not all the craic having a round face, I would love to have glowing cheekbones and beautiful pearly teeth (it was quite saddening to realise my teeth weren’t going to be any whiter when I got my brace off in 2008) I do like having flawless skin though, I hope my skin lasts until I’m old. I’ll just keep slappin’ the face cream on.

“Dang how could these guys/girls look so hot/skinny/stylish/charismatic/gorgeous/cute/pretty/funny/ TALENTED?”

Yeah, K-Pop goes in my mind a lot, not as much as usual. But their music is so awesome, I love it so much. And Korea’s fashion is many steps ahead of us, I’d just travel over there to get some of the amazing style! It’s all good fun. I like thinking about it.

“Aww, why can’t I do that.”

I often feel a pang of jealously for them multi-talented people who can do everything I can’t. Dance. Sing. Speak aloud without crapping up a single sentence. Play an instrument. Be better at art. Do maths without a calculator. Make funny jokes. Have perfect eyesight.

In my head I think how cool it would be if I was able to do these things, then I go back to reality and realise I can’t. Life can be cruel!

“That would be a good post idea.”

Yes. Frequently, at least once a day, I think about Blogger or an idea of something I could blog about. One of them ‘idea’ things I have..

“Eugh I’m so tired..ah my foot..ah the hanger fell...i tripped..hit my head... gah why am I so stupid”

This is me on school mornings, especially Mondays, because I’m very tired after the weekend. So I usually go into school in a foul mood..unless tea and music helps. It does 99.4% of the time. I often wonder what way my conscious speaks, and when typing it down, I sound like an ogre.

“You should be my bay-be, bay-be, bay-be”

“put your PAWS up”

“Eh eh Eh Eh, break it down now”

Music lyrics itself crosses my mind constantly. I love music, I don’t remember what spent time doing before I had my classic iPod. (who is still alive and well!)

I think Emma said this in a post, but there is definitely a theory if you don’t finish listening to a song it gets stuck in your head until you either 1. finish listening to it, 2. listen to the whole thing again, 3. tell someone it’s stuck in your head or alternatively 4. sing it aloud.

I seriously enjoy a good beat so I can mindlessly dance to it, wether this being in my free’s doing some work or just walking somewhere (I occasionally dance going into school, nobody sees me I hope.) I also would sing LOUDLY when art is going well, but just at home!

“Oh that sounds fun, let’s do that!”

I thank my creative brain for giving me good ideas for things. Well I usually think they are, I don’t tell anyone until I carry them out, then they can’t be changed, stolen or banned. I have these little epiphanies at least 3 a week, and then they roll in my mind until I actually take action. For example, get a penpal- someone I could conventionally write to every couple of months. It’s so old skool compared to writing a stupid email, which isn’t personal at all. And now after much searching, I’ve got a penpal! Yay, I get more post. Let’s hope she writes.

The only other thing ticking in my mind is to write more letters for celebrities, which gives me a better chance to own an autograph........and to get more post of course.

"ohhhhhhhhh the FUTURE oohhhh"

After a frightful battle with UCAs, my application was sent away..and so far I’ve got two conditionals and an interview. Which is great of course, but I still feel far too young to be planning to go to university, it’s just weird and a little bit scary at times. The future constantly winds up my brain, I miss being a child, there were no worries at all.

Note to self: do some revision!!!

Peace.

APPLES

Hey,
I haven't blogged for ages. I've been so tired.
I have worked so hard recently but the work just keeps on coming, I can barely keep up. When I do work hard on something, it's always wrong or needs more alterations. My exams are just around the corner and I haven't even finished my art. This is shocking because I had practically everything done last year. Curse AS levels.
Things can only get better.

Things that are keeping me from becoming brain dead:

CHRISTMAS

Okay, I shall summarise my Christmas in a nutshell.
Waking at around 7, Jared and I got our Santa presents in the living room as usual. Mine consisting of a Macbook Pro named Henry and a pile of other stuff; D&G handbag, Perfume:Lola by Marc Jacobs & Harajuku Girls MUSIC, a book about the Beatles, scarf, hats. Twas awesome.
After opening presents under the tree, We went over to Mar's house, and opened the stuff she got us, I got a class Calvin Klein watch! Jared got GHD's, which I stole. muahaha.

The morning church service was excellent, I love it every year. It's so laid back. The children go to the front and show off their new toys, cute. Note that my typing is crappy because I'm actually exhausted and I have ate too much sweets. :(

We then went over to my Aunt and Uncle' s house, where we got presents from our cousins Gregor and Gareth. I love how Christmas day is split up into different present receiving sections. :D

Then it was finally Christmas dinner, which Mar prepared. I helped serve, of course. It was the nicest meal I've had in a long time. I was stuffed!

Aunt Lauren went back home to Belfast this morning. But Uncle Gordon is still here. He stayed at our house this evening, and Mum, Jared and him watched the first Batman film. I however, was on the Macbook. :)
I tried to place myself in a YouTube video of Super Junior learning English, and a music video of theirs (Full of Happiness) with "Photo Booth." I think I need a green screen though, if I want to do it properly. These two are the ones that turned out best! Note the lighting is crappy from my camera (WHICH IS BUILT INTO THE LAPTOP :O)
